ABSTRACT
STATE OF THE COMMUNICATION SKILLS TRAINING IN ARGENTINA. This presentation aims to take stock of the current state of Media Studies teaching and learning in Argentina’s higher education sector.
Internet forums, field notes and statements by researchers, student interviews and traditional scholarship allow us to approach this field, our preoccupation and occupation.
We will start with a consideration of the types of higher education institutions that exist in the country, and go on to pinpoint those study centers which offer degrees in Media Studies, identifying the type of institution and the qualifications available. Representatives of Media Studies degrees affiliated with the Federación Argentina de Carreras de Comunicación will provide us with information on the structure, length and focus of courses. Meanwhile students will offer feedback on pre-professional practical work and involvement in research projects during their time in the institution. In conclusion, we will put forward some suggestions that combine teaching and student practice as signposts for the university teaching sector.
